Beware of the 'Durian Van WSL 6975' Scam
Hi all,
The purpose of writing this email is to share my experience with all and hope you will not trapped by the same trick.
I believe everyone is aware that there were groups of people trying to sell durian at the restaurants in Puchong. My experience was this group of people came to sell durian at the Dim Sum place.
Below are their tricks:
I am not sure if anyone of you had the same experience as mine, but I heard from the retaurant owner that there were also other customers was cheated by them previously.
My sharing is a bit long winded but I really hope this will get you to avoid this bad experience and to stop these scams.
If you really want to buy durian, I believe you could get it easily from some stalls in Puchong.
Even if you insist to buy from them, you must ask them to weight first before open, then make sure you see them packing.
Please share with everyone you know.
From,
Durian Fan
Dear Residents,
I get conned before as well. Maybe it was not from the same person, but the purpose is to bring the awareness of the residents so that they won't get conned as well.
My story was, a very yong durian seller pop into one of the restaurant in Puteri 5, and keep saying they were very young (around 20), economy is so bad, hope we can support the young man like them. Their durian is good species, he will choose a good one for us and pack nicely into the box for us. We rejected the offer, but they keep pushing us and asking us to support them. Out of sympathy, we finally agreed to take one, so he told me it cost RM 28.
When the young boy turn around head back to the van, the shop owner told us, they used to cheat people around, and their durians is supper expensive. Therefore, I walked to the van to pick my durian. The boy opened the durian and straight away he throw away (discard) half of the durian to the rubbish pack. I straight away asked, you don't even have openned the other half, how could you throw away? He answered me, we are very experienced to open durian, we see the inner stem, we straight away know there are no more flesh inside. I keep asking them to open it, they refuse to. I shown disappointment and he then said "ok, I will just give you another small during to contra, ok?" Since he said that, I then accept it with a bit of unhappiness, feeling better than nothing. Who knows, when he collect money from me, he than increase the price from RM 28 to RM 36. I asked him why, he than said and the small one weight ...... That means, I still have to pay for the small one. I was very angry and don't want to argue with them anymore.
Ever since that, I NO MORE buying durians from this kind of Van Durian Seller. Another approach again last week. I straight away said very firmly NO, and the man keep pushing again. When my relative ask me why, I explained to my them the CON MAN Story, and he stood beside to listen my story. Still trying to persuade us, they seems very desprite. 1 bad experience is enough.
Sorry for the long winded story, If you really want to buy, make sure you follow them to the VAN and negotiate the price prior before they open the durian. Tell them that YOU WON'T PAY IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFY WITH IT, right before you confirm the deal to avoid being CONNED like others.
Thank you...for listening.

I believe everyone is aware that there were groups of people trying to sell durian at the restaurants in Puchong. My experience was this group of people came to sell durian at the Dim Sum place.
Below are their tricks:
- They will show you a very nice durian and kept pursuing you to buy from them as they are selling at cheaper price than anywhere else. (My case was they told me Mao San King for RM 18 per kg)
- They even tell you that you can buy but only paying them one week later as they are here every Fri to Sun. They claimed that they are from kuantan but later I found out they are from Kajang.
- When you decided to buy, they will lead you to their van. (I remember the number WSL 6975 grey colour Nissan van) At the van, they will at least in group of two persons. They will try to pursuade you to buy more. (My case, they recommended a species that I have not heard before, the original price was RM 28 / kg but they could sell to me at RM 18 / kg)
- While you are considering, they will very quickly open the durian. Once they open, they will weight it. I suspect their weighing machine has been modified as my 3 durians (1 medium 2 small) add up to 9 kg and that cost RM 162. Suddenly, I realised I was being conned and I told them I didn't want to buy and tried to walk off. But they didn't let me go and we settled at RM 120.
- I was so frustrating and didn't pay attention to the guy that was packing my durian into the container. Initially they said they would pack all in transparent container but they actually pack all mine in the polystyrene form containers.
- When I got home and opened the containers, I realised they had swapped my durian (Mao San King & another branded) with the normal durian which you could get it few ringgit per kg. I am sure they had some prepacked durian and had swapped it without my notice.
I am not sure if anyone of you had the same experience as mine, but I heard from the retaurant owner that there were also other customers was cheated by them previously.
