Cockroaches

Ever since we moved into Puteri 11 Nadia 2 half a year ago, we have been encountered cockroaches problem. They are simply too many and will not just go away.

Luckily they do not invade the whole house but rather just chill out in the ground floor toilet. Every now and then, I see few cockroaches in the ground floor toilet at night when I turn on the light.

How you know you have SEVERE cockroaches problem? You'll know it when you witnessed them mating in front of you, I saw it once. I killed ALL of them whenever I see them by spraying cockroach chemical on them. I even put cockroach medicine near the toilet.

Whenever there is a drastic change in weather, raining day just like this evening, I would expect more of them to chill out in the toilet. Just a moment ago, I killed 13 of them in a go inside the toilet.

I just wonder if any Puteri 11 residents having the same problem, and any suggestion on how to get rid of them.

  1. I have been seeing Cockroaches in my house quite some time ago. But not to the extend of 13 of them at the same spot. I found them in my kitchen cabinet, ground floor toilet, Masterbedroom toilet, 1st floor shared toilet and 2nd floor toilet! Basically cockroaches been running across the whole house!

  2. I have the problem with cockroaches.
I had once killed 20 over cockroaches at my backyard. Now and then, I still spot one or two in the kitchen. It seem this is everyone problem.

  3. I have the same problem too but not to the extend of 13 cockroaches.

I use chemical spray (yes it is bad but so far the only effective way).

    1) Make sure all drains (toilet and sink) are covered.
    2) Draw a invisible line with chemical spray (door at backyard, the two doors of ground floor toilet. Have to do it every 2 weeks, otherwise, u will see one or two running around again).
    3) Use dettol, mix with water and spray the floor.

Any other suggestions (green method)? I hate them very much. If I see them, I roll the newspaper and hit them, follow by a 100 degree hot water, sterilizing it before throwing.

If it runs very fast or flying, use a super strong hold hairspray, u will see them freeze out in few seconds, tapao and throw it (found this idea from one of the forum)

  4. They come from your main sewage line thru the drain hole. make sure all drainage holes are properly covered.. the sewage may have been flooded during rainy days and they have to crawl out from their hideouts for air/ or they may have come out thru the drainage from the backyard....

  5. I was suggested by a doctor to put cockroach poison inside the manhole at the backyard. This would kill the cockroaches before they even get out.

  6. Where can I get the cockroach poison? Any brand?

  7. It's available in most stores like Giant, Tesco, Jusco. But don't buy those that trap cockroaches, not very useful though.

  8. Been wondering a while if I were the only one having the same problem. 13 cockroaches seems a lot but my record was 60 roaches, big and small at one time! Was away for few days and when I walked into the kitchen, saw the damn roaches partying away! I am now covering all the drain holes in the kitchen and toilet but still seeing 3-4 roaches. Another pest is ants. They are like all over my house. I'm thinking of calling pest control as I can't stand it anymore.

  10. Pour boiling water into the drain hole once a week. It works for me.

  11. I had this cockroach problem and so I change all my floor traps to the anti cockroah type and that helped. After that they started coming in from the doors, so I put door strips, it helped too then they started coming in from the toilet windows, so I had netting installed. I thought the problem was solved but I was wrong, they now come in via the windows - I can't be closing my windows all the time! I wonder where these roaches come from and how can we stop it.

  13. To the person who recommended pouring hot water once every week, thank you so much. I followed that procedure and I have not been seeing cockroach since 5 may. Thank you thank you.
