Attempted house break-in happened at Puteri 11

This morning I was informed that few days ago there was an attempted house break-in at a house at Nadia 1. As to my knowledge, this is the first time this occurred at Puteri 11. Luckily the break-in failed and no items were stolen.

It happened at around 10am morning few days ago. The house was empty at the time. A luxury MPV drove by and stopped in front of the house. The house's neighbor saw the stopped van and monitored it.

A moment later, a lady came out from the vehicle and she made some phone calls. Then, 2 men came out and jumped over the gate and started picking the main-door locks.

The neighbor then immediately called the police. The police arrived within 10 minutes but the thieves had left since.

The house owner later confirmed that his main-door locks was damaged and he now uses an additional lock to lock the main-door.

We are lucky that this break-in had failed, but we should not depend on luck for our security. We have to be pro-active and alert to all suspicious persons and vehicles in our neighborhood. Get to know your neighbors to be on the look-out for each other's houses.

In future, we may have to setup more stringent security access to Puteri 11.

  1. Dear Sirs/Madam

Since there is a case of attempted break-in happen at Puteri 11. I suggest that we (resident) should have the mobile number of the guards station at the guard houses. So that we can call & inform them to stop the suspect car from leaving Puteri 11 and get the police to check on them when the police do arrive 10 or 20 minutes later. Whats the point of calling the police and wait if the suspect can easily escape before police arrive.

I always has a camera ready incase i need to take pictures of robbers in action.

Hope that the RA can come up with some solution on the security breach this time.

Ps : maybe IOI can provide the mobile phone to the guard solely for the use of emergency calls only.

  2. I think we should have CCTV installed at the new guard house and perhaps "Touch-N-Go" like system for residents to enter Puteri 11. Car without the access card should leave I/C or driving license with the guard prior entering Puteri 11 and guard should check the photo on any identity card given to ensure their look is tally.

  3. Hi everyone, my 2 cents.

IOI's guards are hired to protect IOI's development. I don't think they are obliged to any resident of Nadia. I am not sure when the handover will happen from IOI, but the challenge will then begin - collection of funds to run the security services etc. Anyway, little observation I have here, there shouldn't be much obstacles with residence in Nadia/Puteri 11.

I welcome residence access card solution so long as the administration matter is resolved. This not only involves buying the system and distribute cards to every household, but it requires someone to man it - issues like lost cards, faulty card, system error, updates etc. All these are about dollars and cents.

I think so long as all resident are united and impose strictly rules on visitors (that is guards under RA's engagement), we should be fine.

The questions that I don't have answer are:
Unlike in condominiums that have door to door paging systems. How could we verify authenticity of visitor with house owner? Calling mobile phone of owner? Are you comfortable of leaving your mobile number with security guards? After all, security guards are mostly foreigners and outsiders - bound to have some bad apples.

The above aside, I am a subscriber to the saying that nothing beats strong neighborhood that keeps an eye on each other well being.

I am not only talking about watching over strangers as the best deterrent of any burglary or sort... but also other courtesies like not leaving your pet's poo all over the place - in middle of road, in the park, by the swing (after all please tell all residents that dogs are not allowed in the park - I notice it on board erected by MPSJ in the park).

    Best Regards,
    Ng, Puteri 11/11
